There is a battery replacement "kit" that allows the use of standard readily available 396 1.55 volt batteries. They come in a kit with a 396 battery, the Delrin (plastic) spacer ring, a brass spacer and the "brain child" of the unit a step-down transducer/transformer voltage controlling unit. These are being sold online from about $20 - $25.
I hope this information helps you.

Yep,,,, that is one of several sources. I just did not place a name of a commercial website selling merchandise or link in an active forum or talk group because I was told the only place to put a direct link to a commercial site actually selling merchandise was on the forum dedicated to items for sale or trade. In my early days of posting to the Forums, I actually had a couple of my postings deleted because they had a direct link to a commercial site that had items for sale.
I realize that our intent is to help fellow members with their questions. However, does it matter if the item for sale is $25 or $2500? If the rules governing forum postings have changed,,, we all need to know so we don't step on someones toes (so to speak).

Don't be so precious Boomer! I believe that the intent of this forum to to help people with with questions about Accutrons. Searching Google for "Accucell 2" brings up the direct links anyway. I quoted http://www.batterybob.com/product.asp?intProdID=100002 because it gives a good description and pictures.

Pegwood,
You are 100% correct that we are here to help the readers and members of this forum. I just try to abide by the "rules" that I was instructed to abide by as a moderator. If those rules have changed, loosened up or become more lax,,,, I actually find nothing wrong in directing our members to go to those websites.
Like I stated earlier, I actually had some of my postings deleted in my early days with Watch & Clock Forum because I was told that we could not post a link to commercial sites actually selling merchandise. My intent was certainly not to be "too precise". I was just trying to play by the rules set out by W&CF.
Respectfully, Boomer

Boomer, I can see your point but it must be hard for you as a moderator and also sponsor of this site. As sponsor you presumably pay for the right to post the link to http://www.boomertime.com in the footer of all your messages. As a moderator you must rule on what are acceptable links to other sellers who potentially take away business from you or other sponsors, conflicting roles, I don't envy you but the rules about posting links needs to be clarified. I certainly don't want to see these forums turn into a market place for everyone to post links to their businesses. I also don't want to see a ban on posting links like the one posted in answering the question from paflorie.

Regards, Pegwood

Pegwood,
I certainly agree with your thoughts. It's a "delicate tightrope" for sure. We don't want to point all of our members toward "outside sources" that have done nothing to help or contribute to the Watch & Clock Forum. We don't want to take potential business away from W&CF vendors and sponsors that have invested "thousands of dollars" in the Watch & Clock Forums and have been helping the members and readers for years. However,,, at the same time, we don't want to be so restrictive that we do not freely offer potentially helpful information for fear that we might step on somebody's toes. I am strongly opposed to any type of censorship, manipulation or control. However, our posting rules and guidelines state that we are not to post a link to a commercial site that is "selling" merchandise.

For example, under a posting on "How do you store or display your watches", a member stated that he wanted to buy another watch display tower for his watch collection. Our company is an authorized agent selling these high grade watch display, storage and automatic-winding units. I replied with my message in a posting. However, I never included a link to actually view the merchandise that I offer for sale.

I totally agree with you that for the sake of all concerned we should indeed have the rules of posting URL's or direct links to commercial websites that are selling products clarified. The original and existing rules say "NO". If this rule has changed, loosened up or become more lax,,,, you are indeed correct, we ALL need to know.
A tip of the old Boomer hat,
